How we measure Careers

The careers programme at Southlands is measured against the Gatsby Benchmarks.  These are 8 standards that the school strives to meet.  The are:

  1. A stable career programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Southlands is regularly supported in self evaluation of our progress towards these 8 benchmarks by the Lancashire Careers Hub.  The Careers Hub are excellent at advising the school about how to close any gaps we have in our provision.  The evaluation that we do with the Careers Hub is logged on the nationally recognised Compass+ platform and our most recent report can be viewed here.

Next Review Date

The next review of our careers provision will take place before December 2023
