Name of Local Governing Body: The Mosaic Learning Trust – Southlands High School Local Governing Body

Remit of the Local Governing Board (LGB):

The LGB will work within a scheme of delegation from the Body of the MAT, and at all times will be subject to the scrutiny of the Body, who have the ability to amend the scheme of delegation to all or any Academy in the overall interests of the MAT.

• Review the vision and direction for each Academy, working within the framework of Mosaic MAT’s vision;
• Recommend to the Trust Body the Academy budget
• Oversee financial monitoring within their Academy;
• Hold the Academy Headteacher to account for standards at their Academy and report regularly via the Chair of Governors to the Trustees;
• Act as a critical friend to the Academy Headteacher;
• Make recommendations to the Board on capital programme
• Undertake relevant statutory duties, e.g. pupil exclusion appeal panels;
• Oversee Safeguarding in the Academy and report thereon through attendance at the Safeguarding Board;
• Review regularly Health and Safety arrangements and the Academy Risk Register.

LGBs are not responsible for the operational and day to day management of the Academy. This is the remit of the Academy Headteacher who reports to the Executive Headteacher.
