Southlands High School Local Governing Body

Remit of the Local Governing Body (LGB):

The LGB work within an agreed Scheme of Delegation (SoD) set by Mosaic Learning Trust, and at all times will be subject to the scrutiny of the Trust Board, who have the ability to amend the Scheme of Delegation to all or any Academy in the overall interests of the MAT.

The Local Governing Body –

• Hold the Headteacher to account for standards at Southlands High School and report regularly via the Chair of Governors to the Trustees;
• Act as a critical friend to the Headteacher;
• Supports the Headteacher and school leaders while holding them to account for standards, safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and pupil wellbeing;
• Undertake relevant statutory duties, e.g. link Governor roles, pupil exclusion appeal panels;
• Offer assurance to the Trust Board by monitoring performance, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring policies and practice are implemented effectively at school level.

The LGB are not responsible for the operational and day-to-day management of Southlands High School. This is the remit of the Headteacher who reports to the Trust CEO.
